Yes I did understand the original point, but I don't accept that the ropes will be running through the draw by wildly varying amounts.
Also, the friction melting thing is only a problem when one part of the rope is hit by the heat. If you spread the friction out over a length of rope it is no problem (eg a munter hitch, this is purely rope on rope friction). I don't see how one rope can be stationary in the biner for the other to rub on it enough, since if you are falling then both ropes are going through the biner. |
