In an attempt to put off doing any study, I've had a go at making a backup script for my thecrag ticks. I've decided to post it for those who are worried about losing their data as well.

The script can be found at:

which you will need to download to a windows machine and then rename the file from export-my-thecrag-ticks.txt to export-my-thecrag-ticks.vbs. Edit: If you open the file in a browser you can copy it all into a text file and then save it with a .vbs extension - it really doesn't matter what the file is called.

You then need to log into thecrag - probably with IE not firefox ??

Then double click on the export-my-thecrag-ticks.vbs to run the script - click yes or ok if you get any security / virus checker warnings

The script makes a separate TAB delimited file with all your ticks - if pauses for 30 seconds between each page it scrapes so if you have 2000 ticks it may take up a very long time to do - an hour or so

Note/Disclaimer: I feel a bit dubious about posting this but I did not want to post any work without any way to be able to back them up. You cannot get anyone elses data. The crags inability to enable users to get their data is not good enough and to ask $20 is not on - this script took me about 15 minutes to write.

It pauses between scrapes as not to put too much strain on thecrags server - it goes slower than you would clicking through yourself.
