I know what you mean about petrol wasting. Whenever I see an obviously high powered turbo on boost, or a v8 at 5 thousand revs I think, "woo that is costing you mate." But at the same time, the people who do this sort of stuff would be far less likely to drive 600kms every weekend (to gramps etc). They just use their recreational petrol in a different way (and probably use less of it).
