GRAMPIANS fire - Mt LUBRA updated 9.30am Thursday 2 February

The Mt Lubra fire is still going although fire activity remains low. The fire has now burnt an area of approximately 130,000 hectares and the perimeter of the fire is approximately 400km long.

The majority of the Grampians fire perimeter has now been contained. Approximately 1.4km of trail needs to be constructed either by dozer or by hand, in difficult terrain and on steep slopes.

Crews patrolled the fire overnight, responding to reports of smoke and smouldering material.

There are currently no risks to communities in the Grampians area. However, anyone seeing further smoke in the area is asked to alert authorities by calling 000.

Road users and people inspecting their properties should exercise extreme caution and remain alert to falling branches and poor road conditions.
