was once doing a moonlight ascent of a 3-pitch pocketed limestone wall in mexico. we got to the top of the first pitch ok, but realised that we were on the route just to the right and had to do a relatively unprotected 15 m traverse to reach the right line. It was easy ground, but the pockets sometimes threw up intersting challenges as they provided great spots for small cactus to grow in, so you often tried to get a look into the pocket before latching on with the hand. Paul was about 10 metres above and right of the belay when he peered into a pocket to see if it was occupied. Tuns out that it was, but by a 10 cm wide tarantula ... so he retreated and chose another line!
