Had to chip in with my 2 cents worth

...whether the ban is restricted to climbers or all visitors, if it is there it is probably for our own good! You
would be toasted up on those rocks if a fire took hold below. The heat would melt your nylon ropes, set
fire to your lovely slings and toast your belayer. Actually, it would most likely melt all of your alloy metal
protection. Heat rises boys and girls. It would blast up the slabs at the Cathedrals like a furnace. It would
drag with it choking black smoke, burning embers, leaves and flaming bits of bark. Your scrawny, muscled
limbs would be roasted in a flash.

Of course its a bit rough to have to keep out of the parks every time there's a fire ban on :-( Still a park
like Camel's hump at least might be a bit easier to escape from since (i) its easier for somebody to run
around warning people on the crags of imminent danger (ii) the walk out and drive to safer territory is
*much* shorter.

I dunno. After the recent fires at the Grampians and Stawell this is at least an issue to consider! Would
Arapiles be better?
