Read an interesting series of entries in a fiordland hut log once...a crazy russian had gone through a little while before us on a solo transalpine and had been trapped by flooded rivers for something like a fortnight. In broken Russian/English in the hut log he chronicled the disappearing food, then the days without food, then an entry saying he'd "caught and eaten a native parrot". We thought it was world class piss-take until the pile of feathers were spotted...

note:keas are protected...and they're actually pretty cool if they're not in a gang of juvenile males trying to make trouble a homeboys-in-the-mall kinda way.
