Depends how long you’re going away for and if you have to carry it with you. Car camping – fresh veggies, frozen meat which defrosts itself by dinner time, pasta & pasta sauces - if I’m lazy.
Crackers, cheese, tuna, energy bars are great for lunch and cereal or porridge (if it’s a cold morning) are great for breakfast. Bacon, scrambled eggs, and freshly brewed coffee also really annoy other campers >:-)
If I’m going bushwalking I normally take couscous, TVP and other stuff. When I did the Overland Track (so everything had to be really light) our menu included spaghetti Bolognese (TVP instead of mince), vegetarian chicken nuggets with rice and veggies, dhal and damper, couscous with Moroccan spices and falafels, couscous with vegetables and cruze cooked a tasty pasta dish with a tomato/vegetable sauce and tuna. Weight watchers also make great mousses and custards which you can whisk with a fork and they still set ok. There’s nothing better than a tasty meal when you’re knackered – especially when other people around you are having 2 min. noodles lol >:-) Or you could just take bagels :) |
