Indeed i will be a pedant about this one because i think there should be a common definition of tick.
Taking MrKyles definition ( I agree with the definition) and unraveling it a little more, you have to ask yourself what a succesful climb is.
Succesfully completing a climb to me is getting to the top or end of a route I have set out to climb. With that in mind one can virtually do it any way they wish, after dogging it, getting beta, attempting it many times or evenpulling on pro, getting hauled up by others if they wanted to do so. I think the redpoint, pinkpoint, dog, flash etc etc are just a way to tell others how you ticked it with just a single word.
I do have to point out that "succesful climb" may mean something different to other people because their version of "succes" may very well be different to mine.
