I actually don't get a 'rush' on either rock or ice unless I've just scared the crap out of myself. I've found it's way more important to be focused and calm - adrenalin just seems to get the way.

With the change in season over here in NZ it's great to be back out on the rock enjoying the sun and warm weather.

Another aspect of ice climbing is something I call fear control - I've found that I need to do this alot more than when rock climbing - essentially because falling is not really on option when climbing ice - you've got too many sharp bits that can stick into you or catch on the ice resulting in broken ankles.

Finally it all comes down to what really spins your dial. I have freinds who are great ice climbers but can't climb rock to save themselves. The reverse is also true. On other thing to remeber about ice climbing ...... IT'S ALWAYS STEEPER THEN WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOU APPROACH THE ROUTE...
