they are still (almost) edible after a week at the pines.
straight after exertion, by the way, eat some carbs.
any protien you eat at this point will be metabolised down to replace your glycogen. won't make any of difference to your muscle mass.
protien before you sleep. that's when the rebuilding happens.
our protien requirements are remarkably low.
excess protien in the diet, like any excess, just gets converted to either fat or shit.
