I didn't catch the original post, but see no problem with a comment such as "Man, Jane's so increadibly good, she must be on steroids". It is clear that the comment is not based on fact. It could even be thought of as a compliment implying that Jane is so talented that no one else could match her without taking stuff.

No employer or sponsor is going to take any notice of it.

However, comments like " I heard she's on steroids" or "Billy-Bob told me she bought steroids off Mr Smith" that is a different kettle of fish and should be deleted.

WHile I wouldn't be inclined to write this sort of stuff myself, I think its a bad idea to get paranoid about this kind of thing and over police the posts. As someone else said, it will ruin the campfire feel.
