tom was actually trying to get through the cornice in the little saddle between the summit and the n w spur knoll.there had been a lot of rain all weekend very little fellas snow on nelse where we were. he was belayed back from the edge and was trying to cut down through the cornice when the cornice broke on a line about 20 metres back from the edge .several of the group went over the side but tom wasnt able to get back or be found. there was also another death when someone fell down the gully on the south side just east of the summit onto the rocks below. |
