I pulled up a couple of meters short on Auto De Fe with a 50m rope many years ago. Fortunately my belayer was able to extact a few more centimeters from the belay ledge, plus with rope stretch I was able to jiggle in a couple of bits of gear on full stretch. I also pulled up 1m short of the belay chains on Planar Craving in WA. I could hold the rap chains but had no draws or slings left and no spare rope so I couldn't clip them. Instead I had to set up a hanging belay only 1m from the chains. My next rope will be a 60m rope, or at the very least 52m!
