cliffs are all in the process of falling down.

if chalk doesn't kill lichen, brushing and climbing will.

everything we do has an impact.

you are naive, steph, if you imagine that changes aren't made by even the most ethical climber.
whatever the climb first looked like to you, how do you know how it first loooked to the first ascenscionist who just might have removed loose rock, perhaps done a little gardening. and what about those who followed. a second acent will never be as safe as following a popular climb where the choss has been knocked off.

then again.
grease, chalk, trundling, popping holds, means that the imperialism of climbing may be retarded.
do we need to keep doing new climbs, adding to the climbing empire, if the old ones get harder as they fill up with grease & chalk and lose holds?

you don't step in the same river twice.
