I thought that we should probably include

CAUI - Completely and utterly insane

But seriously in regards to the A grading, the plus makes sense when you consider that within each A division the plus is simply that particular division pushed to it's extreme. Whitewater paddling for many years has encompassed plusses and minuses to indicate extrems of each grade and this seems to have worked fine. We tend to talk about free grades in terms of a stiff 18 or so, why not formalise this with a plus and minus sytem.
Correct me if I am wrong here but that was my understanding. I quilte like the A system myself and it would be nice to have one way of doing things (at least within our own country).
