If you ask me it sounds like the perfect way to climb in cold weather. Have been thinking about the whole cost/benefit equation with regard to difficulty and scope of ascents vs. time spent pulling plastic in the gym (boooring!), and I think aid climbing may offer the option of getting up super-difficult stuff (especially alpine) without having to train every day for years. Mmmm... oval biners, beer, jelly-beans, vertical camping... :-)

Folk law as opposed to folk lore? The best thing about climbing is there are no laws, but plenty of lore. (If you want laws you should stick to indoor soccer.)
