having put out my cynical take on "the festoive season"i'll add something positive to the mix:
How about the opportunity to give a present of
clean water, livestock, microcredit, tools, education
to some community or family in the "third world" who really need it?
Those same people who, when one travels, are incredibly generous.
(Ever noticed that people who have nothing are more willing to share than people who have heaps?)
Anyway, you get a nice card with a picture of whatever it is that you buy for whatever community that you can send to the person that would have otherwise had the money spent on them, so they get to have given as well.
