What are people’s thoughts on the progression of climbing in the next ten years or so.
Personally I believe that climbing will top out round grade 40 and bouldering around V20. I don’t believe its humanly possible to climb harder than this, at least not in the next ten years.
I believe three things possibly will happen;
1. Harder and harder trad climbs will be put up (ie 33+)
2. Harder and more remote free climbs on big walls (this is already happening I know.)
3. Single pitch “extreme” aid. Yes you read right.
Remember all those 15-20m walls you walk past which are blank and will never be climbed due to lack of features, well I think in the future people will do these as single pitch aid lines. They would basically be like doing A5+, but you aint gonna hit no ledge, your gonna hit the deck.
What do others think ?
