I still think that if you ascend a route and you're happy with it then you document the style in which the climb was ascended. One thing I didn't mention is that both these routes were ground up onsights. No inspection of gear placements, no cleaning of rock, etc. In my book this is the purest and most inspiring form of climbing. Unfortunately in this day and age it is not common to have an opportunity for such an ascent. By documenting the climb I think that you provide the historical context of the ascent and also make available the free ascent to other climbers of better ability.

I think Nicks' effort on the Compressor route are inspirational. If I would always prefer to claim a FFA rather than a M0.

I think I must be up to at least 4cents worth now (inflation)
