G'day Garrath,
i feel your pain!! i have a 9 month son and at lest 5 years to wait before i can really think about indoors / outdoors for him. thats if he is interested in climbing. i have climbed a far bit indoors myself and this is easy cos i can schedule in a night per week which fits in with my boys routine and the missus BUT outdoors is another bloody world!!

i agree it is frustrating trying to negotiate with the other half, look after the kid(s), handle the day to day stuff AND SLOT in some climb time on the rock.

i have found that my best offence is to climb at all the local melbourne crags within an hours drive of home thus allowing a day trip or 2 per month and the missus does not feel the pressure so much of having to look after his nibs so much

climbing weekends away are something i can only dream about right now.

the missus does not climb but i reckon she might be happy to sit at the base of a cliff/ crag and sip on glass or 6 of chardonnay, read a book and let his nips play in the dirt. if she had company i.e other climbing wives / girlfriends then it could turn in to a real party atmosphere.

perhaps if all the people who have contributed to this particular subject might wanna hook up at a local melbourne crag one day, wives an all so that we can all introduce ourselves, talk some more on this subject, do some climbing and perhaps find a solution to climbing with kids!!

i dunno?? its just a suggestion but maybe it'll help in the long run. gettin all the other halves together might be a way of allowing us climbers to get on with the job in hand.....CLIMBING!!

can i make a suggestion to all those
