Carrots should be retired to the history books of climbing. Visual impact blah blah... I know its not as good. Their are ways of camo-ing the other variety of bolts. If visual impact is important perhaps the first two bolts (or first belay station) could be carrots. reasons: * as previously mentioned bolt plates are a pain in the butt to store in a chalk bag * one can easily drop them * it is foreseeable that one might not have enough for a particular route. * Their are many different sized carrots and hangers (everyone has heard horror stories of some sort to do with this)
