a) are you really qualified to be rating those climbs?
b) how many people here do you think will be able to discuss the quality of their latest 34?

i dont agree with vanders, day @ the beach or killer boas. nice lines but not the best in the country. same with mega mac. stone roses i havent climbed but honestly it looks pretty ordinary, butterfly wall looks good but not THAT good, punks is tainted.
you may have enjoyed these more than any others at the grade, obviously people will get diffeerent things out of a route.
for the best 18, it HAS to be one of rodw routes!

Killer Boas.... umm no!

Vanderholics great route, really enjoyable but not an Australian classic for the grade.

Try Flight of the Phoenix.

You getting study fever MM, your rambling crap again:)

Personally its a dumb this to try and list as everyone has different tastes, some like pumpers, other like crimpy sport routes, some will like run out trad horror shows, other will like mutli pitch epics.

But I suppose it beats doing work.

But Rod, if we all agreed it would be a very boring thread. I want to put in one tentative vote for Aggamemnon as my favourite climb in Australia, but I plan to do some more research before I fully commit...

MM, I think it's a fair attempt to try and add to the list as 'The Strong Man' has. You can judge a climb not just by climbing them, but also take into consideration the line, the moves (watched or climbed) in compiling a selection.

That he has tried to add climbs from areas across Australia (Excluding WA or TAS unfortunately) is a noble jesture.

And for Punks being tainted - in what way? If ethically please don't be so niave, as many classics have succumbed to similar 'tactics'.

Stone roses at Nowra is a classic of the thin wall genre...

The bird bath?? Yes... and the rest. But is still an amazing line, interesting moves and holds a significant part in the history of climbing!

PS good luck with the exams

mighty mouse, are YOU qualified to be making such claims as "isnt the crux all glued up?"
as for the best routes in the country, clearly the best 28 is nightmare merchant at centenial glenn and the best 25 is these frogs can talk also at centenial glen. nothing else comes close

MM what’s your story? Thanks for completely no input to question that has been posed. One doesn't have to complete a climb to rate its nature of quality. Many of the worlds best have played on Realization and spoke of its fine moves. So, Australians may have tried some routes out there and gave such a climb the highest order of merit without completion. I guess that you are one who types ones thoughts, rather than applying ones talent to the rock. All the best is typing away ones skin to the bone, be careful of the space bar it can leave you with a flapper if you grease off the keys....

What happened to climbs under grade 16, are there not any clasics in that grade?

hey smartass i would be at the crag right f---en now if i didnt have a HSf---ingC exam 9am tomorrow, and in a couple weeks when im all done, ill be swapping this flappermakin keyboard with its intermittent spacebar for the real world, where ill probably be enjoying myself too much to spend all my time on forums responding with punkass' like yaself who are to lame to post under their real f---ing name

i can look at a line a decide whether im drawn to it, but im not gonna go saying its the best climb in australia unless ive climbed it, and ive also climbed all the other lines at that grade in the country, and even then ill concede that everyone will get different things out of the same climb so i wont be saying that its the best, just that it was my favourite.

well enough of that, im going find out what books im supposed to be studying...

PS. herr starkers i reckon we've gotten off on the wrong foot (i dont normally get off on feet but anything can happen on the internet...) i read my original post and realised that while it was meant lightheartedly it was a tad 'un-passive', sorry if thats what got ya back up.
otherwise, f--- you anyway

i rekon monkey puzzle is pretty good but it has no moves.
hairline is good but the directe finish to it witch is called "fresh goats milk" is somthing beyond
comprehension.its soooo tubular if you catch my meaning.
but i think hairline 2000 is probebly 28 as far as grades go,witch isnt that far.
also my good friend pete cunningham put up a new route in the gramps witch is like groovy
stacked on top of mr joshua.unbelivable.
if people want any directions im shaw you could mail him.

Flake Crack?

There can be no argument.

"The Fear" at Sydney's North Head is the best 17 in the country.
