Goatfest 2020. Saturday 11th April.
The callout for film entries has begun!
Only 2 months away so time to drag out the equipment or phone camera and get filming.
The Goatfest Climbing Film Festival has always been the opportunity for those who have never filmed in their life to give it a go. Got a phone - you're equipment ready! Do it! This is the year. It's your year.
We are also happy to receive films that come from those who have mastered the phone and well and truly beyond.
This year also sees the return of........Goatathlon. Back by popular demand.
Think triathlon...kinda....sort of... More on that soon.
We have created a Goatfest Facebook page to provide info over the next couple of months and inspire you all with previous Goatfest films both professional and amateur. There are already a few up.
So give it a like and share thanks folks.

Goatfest Film Festival POSTPONED
Climbers and risk. It's something that goes hand in hand. Assessing gear, routes, abilities and weighing it all up.
We’ve been doing the same at Goatfest headquarters. We’ve been assessing the current situation with the virus out there and we are making the call that at this point in time, it’s important that we minimise the risk of impact to the Natimuk community and beyond.
Goatfest Climbing Film Festival will be postponed until a later date. We have some great films submitted and look forward to showing them at a more suitable time. If you want to be inspired just head to our Goatfest Facebook page and check out many of the previous submissions.
An upside to this is that you have more time to brainstorm and create a film :-)

This is very much the right thing to do, if a sad decision.
I went to an Easter Goatfest a few years back - really well done stuff - great atmosphere - plus catching up with a lot of folks. But, in that hall, if there is 1 CV attendee that person will likely infect quite a few 20 others.

or (just go to Evenbrite and punch Goatfest into the search)
GOATFEST ONLINE!
The festival is a much loved event on the climbing community calendar. It is an opportunity for climbers to create and view films and to enjoy the global camaraderie that is part of being a member of this great community. Run entirely by volunteers, Goatfest opens with an offering of a hearty meal, includes the film contest replete with prizes and the coveted Golden Goat award. Alongside a selection of both professional and amateur films, there is often a feature event which may be a film, a talk or presentation. Errrr....
BUT THIS YEAR IT’S DIFFERENT!
This year you will need to supply your own hearty meal in your own home as we take Goatfest online! It wasn’t in our plans but hey, we’re gonna embrace it and we think it’s a great opportunity to add another bow to the Goatfest event. We're not promising the slickness of Banff, but it will be entertaining.
We think it’s important to keep the festival going and provide some celebration in the community around climbing and the arts. Previously a fundraiser in its live form, we’re taking a bit of a back seat in the fundraising department this year. Ticket sales are by donation. Anything you donate is appreciated and will help us cover some costs taking the festival online. The main focus though is to keep the festival going.
We’ll be running it via a mix of Zoom for interactive content and voting and watching the films via Vimeo. After ticket registration, you will be sent zoom links and vimeo passwords closer to the time. Bear with us while we continue to add more information to the platforms.
