Among the stupidities of closing Summer Day is that this is the one climbing area of the park that is hardened for intensive use. People who would go there will now go to other sites which aren't hardened and damage those. Great lose-lose situation. Parks and climbers have put a lot of work into Summer Day over the past 3 decades, in line with the Management Plan Strategy " further stabilise access to the base of climbs at Summerday Valley". Why would this be part of the Management Plan if climbing there isn't permitted?
