G'day all,
I ended up making the move to latrobe valley which meant giving up on any climbing while I'm here. I've been bush bashing along some rivers and realised kayaking could be a bit of fun. Reckon anyone can put me on to a decent website or lend some advice on purchasing/hiring a kayak/canoe?
From what I've found on the internet, hiring wont get me far since they only lend out for use on the local lake of the shop (none of which I'm near).
Slightly more on topic, how hard is it to get in on the ice climbing scene with no experience?
cheers

Having lived in Gippsland, I don't understand why moving to the Latrobe Valley means no climbing - unless the problem is finding a partner.

Mainly because the closest climbing I could find was 45 mins away and only bouldering. Finding a partner never turned out either and I'm nowhere near experienced enough to take new people on proper routes.

Www.adventurepro.com.ah has heaps of boating info.
Also there is a great shop in bairnsdale, that also hires gear.
Kayaking is a great thing to do when it's too wet for climbing, and there are heaps of great rivers in Gippsland. Have fun
