if you are going to add extra complexity, you must first simplify.
halving the numbers is about the fact that for any climber,
any grade exists in a (+ or -) range of at least 1, possibly 2.
That the numbers don't really mean what they seem to.
(Understand that, with an open ended system, guidebook comments are necessary to qualify the grades.)
So, there do not need to be so many grades if there are descriptive terms within the grade to establish what it really means. |
