How long can climbers go without bitching? 31-Jan-2013 At 11:34:36 PM macey

Haha! The whole underlying point of starting this thread was to see if it was possible for people to talk to one another, regardless of differing opinions, in a way that displayed some kind of respect for somewhat opposing stand points. It wasn't about seeing whether we could agree or not (as thats obviously unrealistic in ANY corner of the world!) but rather about how well we can respect each other as unique individuals with unique preferences, and whether or not we are capable of speaking to each other in a way that does not set out to discredit the choices made by those who do things differently to us.

I may not necessarily agree with the actions of people around me, however I still make an effort to speak to others in a respectful, diplomatic and open minded way whether online or face to face. We will never agree about everything, and once again, it's unrealistic to expect as much. However I DO feel much more thought could be given to the way we go ABOUT disagreeing.

I didn't name this thread "How long can climbers go without DISAGREEING", but rather "How long can climbers go without BITCHING". I admit that I'm not always the brightest star in the sky and sometimes I simply get things wrong or catch myself out of line, (I have since investigated the word "community" and as such, admit that, my second post was a hasty, misinformed and somewhat ignorant reply) however I always make the effort to treat others with the same respect that I'd like to receive from them, whether face to face, online, in a text or any other form of communication.
