I think generally you won't get a boot that does everything. Something like the Scarpa Vega/Invierno is probably as close as you will get. At low altitude (ie NZ, Oz, Euro) all you need are leathers and they are stax more comfy and lighter than plakies. The plakies that are really warm for HA stuff are usually a lot bigger to fit more insulation in them and they are kinda awkward and clunky and not as close fit. Not really the best if most of you're climbing is going to be at low alt.

I have la sportiva extremes and they are great. Warm enough up to 6000m for me (I'm long and skinny and get cold) but they are quite narrow in the toe. If you are just starting out, the warmer leathers will probably do you fine for ages. By the time you want more you'll probably be willing to pay for another pair.

Which ever pair you get make sure you have lots of toe room and your heel locks in nicely.
