Women don't / can't boulder as hard as men. |

After reviewing a lot of climbing literature and more recently climbing videos, I am now confirmed in my belief that women lag significantly behind men when it comes to bouldering.
In fact the gap in bouldering abilities is so great that I doubt they will ever close it enough to compete with men in setting new bouldering standards.
What do you think?

What a lame attempt at stiring controversy!
The average woman can't do explosive power as well as the average man, just look at the 100m or the powerful bits of gymnastics.
However, there's lots of ways to skin a cat in climbing, so women can (and do) kick arse in most facets of the sport.
I'm pretty sure that a chick will do Wheel of Life sometime in the nearish future.
If they never keep up with blokes in the pathetic world of 2 move sit-starts......who gives a shit?

Can we add a voting option "davidn is really not very good at starting controversial debates"?

The competitive spirit in women is equal to that in men, but I still maintain they simply aren't in the race when push comes to shove.
The only woman I see on the Australian scene who might come close on Wheel Of Life is Samantha Berry and I doubt that will happen in the nearish future.

Maybe its an intelligence thing....they are smart enough to realize bouldering sucks before wasting to much effort on it.

I think I'm going to start a thread like this but regarding aid climbing.
Then I remembered Silva exists. When are the men going to catch up?

There are thousands of women in the world who are better boulderers than davidn.

Perhaps we can also have a poll "No man will ever free climb The Nose in a day"

For those who are interested, here's a post from the Science in Sport blog comparing the performance of men vs women in track and field and triathlon:
http://www.sportsscientists.com/2011/04/chrissie-wellington-on-charge-and-other.html
In track and field, men outperform women by about 10-11 %. Yes, there are super strong women (I saw a girl hike v10 in Hueco the other day like it weren't no thing), but of course men will always be stronger.
Feel free to return to mindless insults now.

I call bullshit.
Ask any married man - their just foxing us, so we'll drop our guard. Women are the strongest, scariest beasts on the planet.

I think you are onto something there shortman (though I dispute the '1 post in January' portion). ☺
I am bored and have just gone back and checked a lot of http://www.chockstone.org/Forum/Forum.asp?ForumID=&Action=Profile&UserName=Useful = davidn's posts and they as far back as Feb 2011*, have been either deleted, changed to one-liners in place of extensive original posts, or else nonsense inserted like; yada, yawp, ~, etc.; ... especially for those that started threads and can't be deleted.
He is not original in doing this type of action (2 others come to my mind readily over the years that Chockstone has been running), and many of his posts on the threads involved can still be deciphered from the quotes of him by others...
It would seem that negativity by some posters has burnt him(?), yet he has continued to make some valuable contributions under his new user-id to the 'secret squirrel' section of Chocky...
~> It would appear that he is still a Chocky-addict after all!
[*Maybe he is still working on the backlog(?), as there are about 450 posts (of perhaps 800 originals), still in original form if anyone is bothered to go back further before they disappear!].
Post edit at 9.30pm;
He is now down to 30 posts, so has obviously continued to delete his history on this website...
~> Seems to me like a lot of work to go to for an outcome that is neither here nor there, due to internet cached histories!

Duncan, no insults but climbing is a technique, body to weight, flexibility and contact strenght sport as well as muscular strenght and power. As the social nexus continues females should have a good chance on a semi level equality in perormance like in gymnastics. Boulders are graded and the uneven bars and rings are different.
My lazy 120kg mate burnt me off today.
How's hueco and anymore info on leaded vs lite beer rehydration.
