While it would be useful to know, I dont think learning to do a traverse would be something that would be as useful as other components within the course. The tyrolean traverse is something that maybe 5% of the people attending a climbing course would ever do, unless the group was made up of everyone wanting to complete tyrolean traverses instead of learning to climb...and if that was the case, then I am sure that the training offered could be tailored to suit. I guess at the end of the day the courses offered try to cover what the percieve as the important elements....weather it be which knots, gear placement, gear types, belaying, personal anchors, etc.
