If calling it vanity makes you happy then go for it! I don't feel the need to explain or justify myself to very many people in this world, least of all someone I've never heard of on an internet forum but I'll try play nice :)
I just get protective of the little freefall niche when it gets dragged into the public domain... in climbing we have the luxury of enjoying a sport and lifestyle that doesn't get you arrested, fined, chased by cops and rangers, gear confiscated etc. Some of us have to deal with that shit & more on a very regular basis to get our freefall kicks so try to understand how important it is for us to avoid negative publicity (we get particularly cracked down on when the press get on its bandwagon) & so too my head turning when someone is so publicly exhibiting their intentions along with their complete lack of understanding of how to safely accomplish them. If I felt that Clint had been adequately warned by others of his apparently inadequate knowledge or skills to safely perfom these jumps then I never would have piped up. There, I played nice didnt I?
