Why is it that every time someone talks about mining or even prospecting, climbers seem to think it's something that should be fought against?

Is there anyone here who....
Uses climbing gear made out of aluminium that came out of the ground?
Uses electricity that came from coal that got dug out of the ground?
Uses electricity from solar panels made out of stuff that came from sand mining?
Drives a car made out of metal (or rides a train or a bike made out of metal)?

If you want to put an end to mining then stop buying stuff that came from mines.

You might argue that mining should be done in such a way as to minimise the environmental impact, but that's completely different from saying it shouldn't happen.
