On a serious note....

This is one of the typical pro-bolting justifications and is misguided.

I don't think anyone has ever said that trad climbing leaves no permanent impact, if they have they are wrong. Everything we do impacts the environment.

The very defined difference is the INTENT of the action.

Intent is a noun:

1. something that is intended; purpose; design; intention:
2. the act or fact of intending, as to do something: criminal intent.
3. Law . the state of a person's mind that directs his or her actions toward a specific object
