Alpine ice conditions deteriorate from warm weather
Craig Dolby reports... Been up Buller this weekend and it has been very warm and wet after the recent snows turned to rain. South face is corniced with some loose snow at top. We did not get down to climbs but believe that these would be full of loose snow. Enzian Icicle is in poor condition and we believe that it is too brittle to climb due to warm and wet weather. Some bouldering down lower confirmed the poor nature of the ice in this area. Will need a good frost to bring the area into condition.
