Hi- I just looked at your site and noticed something that might be needing possible
ammendment...regarding the garda knot, I was taught this knot by some french alpinists and they warned
me never ever to use this with snaplinks but only use it with screwgate carabiners, and that it is best to
use 2 carabiners that are exactly the same- I ascended a rope once this way and it was pretty easy
though a bit fiddly. hope this helps.

This is interesting feedback heidimountaingirl.
Why is it (do you think) that your contacts suggested only using screw-gates?
I am asking for further enlightenment as the few publications I have sourced seem to indicate that regular karabiners of identical shape and size are sufficient to the task.

it can come undone when used with snap links (try it and youll see) I often use it with snaps but make sure its not a vital link!

This link suggests that you should not use screw gates.
