Over the last while - people have been getting more aggressive in their posts, attacking individuals for having different opinions to the point of slander and just generally immature name calling.
This results is less new members and some old members packing their bags and sometimes also deleting their posts in the process. Less members posting for fear of abuse means more of the usual suspects attacking each other which continues the downward spiral. Much against what I expect the owner of the site intended Chockstone to be…
So the request is to please think a minute before posting your latest message. The climbing scene is still small enough that your posts are not really under the cover of anonymity and don’t do you or outsiders view of climbers/climbing (and that includes the government agencies that manage many of the areas climbing is located) any favours.
The vote users off option till now has only been used as more of a guide. Personally I may start using the results to ban people, since for some it obviously hasn’t been a deterrent. I personally have given time outs for repeat offenders, but will if need be start banning users who continue to be abusive.
I am tired coming to this site to read some regulars rants, as I am just as tired of getting PM’s complaining about others behaviour...

I was going to create an alter online ego just to post this because its so important how the e community persives my online presents, but then i thought, that would not be original, id have to hide behind a new alias like all these verbal spewer uppers that lurk on this site. Well said Dali, bring back a little (uncommon) sense.

Well, we've got some climate change denialists. We've got some with backwards opinions on women. Likewise on gays and gay marriage. We just haven't managed to combine them all into one person like the Liberal Party... and even if we had we wouldn't have picked them as our leader.
[edit: I'm sure we've got someone who has giant ears that stick out from their head like a car with its doors open too... ]
