An experienced local climber, Bill Baxter who was the first person I did a multipitch route with on school
camp in 08 is going to come in and see Hen and for dad who doesn't climb much they're going to go to
the spot where they fell and have a talk about some stuff so dad knows what was going on and so he
can see how risks are assessed when climbing or in that particular case, not assessed.

This is a good thing to happen, and I am glad your community has supportive helpful people available to do this. As a parent myself, I know that it is a worry when one is uninformed about how their children undertake the activities they choose. If common myths are easily dispelled by obtaining basic knowledge then it makes parenting in this situation a lot easier.

The first examiner article was weird, it said we were "top roping which is a form of abseiling"???
He was actually just starting to lead up the climb.

I love these posts by M9. What these congratulatory messages really mean is that you are loser who is spending far too much time on Chockstone and that you need to get a life. (Unfortunately I fit into that category).

As for M9 monitoring the number of posts by individuals... well that's just sick.

glad everyone is starting to heal up. ive only just started climbing in town and really have no 'ins' with the scene here, but just cant believe how so many different stories get passed around. at work today, a climber i know who has just moved here told me that a 'reputable source' told him you guys had nailed a contstruction bolt bought from bunnings into a cliff face, hooked a biner over the top of that and were using it as your top rope anchor, which of course slipped off and you fell 20m to the ground. i love small town gossip!

That's an average of 2 replies for each of M9's posts in the last 3 weeks! Coincidence??

Thats pretty funny but I don't know where it came from, Hen started to lead off a ledge but Jules (belaying) wasn't anchored and so when Hen fell and
his only wire ripped, instead of just decking out on the ledge he collected Jules and they both fell off the ledge to the ground, about 8m.
