G'Day folks,

looking for climbing partners for the Grampians and Arapiles. Happy to climb with one or a group of any size, more than happy to lead and teach trad skills to beginners or belay all day on your sport project, just keen to get out there so don't mind what we do.

I live in the southern Grampians so can supply a spare room, food, beer and showers for anyone keen on getting up here for a few days.

Probably thinking lower/mid grade multi pitch stuff when the weather clears a bit, like to have a crack at solo aid too if anyone would like to share some of those fine skills with me.

Know my way around most of the Grampians crags so can act as tour guide for those new to the area or travelling through.

Send a PM if your keen.

Cheers. J.

Might be in contact one day, if my normal partners can't make a weekend :-)

Solo aid... My most memorable solo aid's are most definitely the Ogive at Bundaleer, and the 26 going through the roof at Mackay's Peak in Halls Gap (M4 ish, not easy)... but I guess plenty of short / hard cracks to practice solo aid around the place. If you don't have a special device, you really only need a GriGri and some aiders.

I'm staying in Dunkeld for at least the next few months. I might be keen to climb some trad or sport in the southern Grampians in my time off.

I'll be keen once the snow melts and I can get away climbing again.

If you don't manage to fill that portfolio beforehand then the Mt Buffalo Aidfest usually held on a late weekend in November would meet your need.

Hi. I'm a 42 yr old female who lives in Hobart. Just learning to climb at mo and have been hanging at gym a couple of times per week to pick up some technique and get stronger. Have had a couple of days outdoors, one at Cataract Gorge with a guide and another with a friend on the Organ Pipes, Mt Wellington. I've two more days lined up with a guide in September, pretty much learning top roping, anchoring etc. I've just bought enough gear to be able to set up top ropes. Was thinking of heading to Grampians mid October for a week to climb. Don't have a climbing buddy at this stage though. As I'm just a beginner I'm keen on pretty easy stuff, grade 14-16 with someone who wants to start out with top roping and is climbing at same level or happy to follow if someone else wants to lead.

O.k to PM on 0417 178 404

I'd head to Arapiles rather than the Grampians. Busier campground where it's far easier to find a partner and I think it's got far more to offer in the mid teens.
