To the trainspotters out there I suggest you have a look at the Life & Leisure section of today's Fin review. Page 41 has a snap of the 'strange rock formations' on Kangaroo Island. It may be just the photo but the scene has dali-esque qualities. Get onto it. Mousey - whack up then jump on it.
Also, is anyone aware of a guide to bouldering at the Youies - specifically the hill above North Western outcrop. Its loads of fun up there and if there's no guide I might have a crack at one myself this summer. Should make for some interesting grades ;) V27 anyone?

There are some good problems below the North West Outcrop, I've wandered around the hillside above and didn't find anything to tempt me. The rock was particularly rough, even for You Yangs standards and the crystal knobs appeared fragile! So given how much rock there is in the You Yangs and that you can pick and choose the better rock and lines I haven't therefore bothered to go back up there...
So it is all yours ;-)
And there is no completed guide for bouldering in the You Yangs at the moment.

Not wrong there - I've been sat on my pants by breaking holds a few times

Thats because its desperately unfashionable. I climb there regardless.

Please note down what you do. I have only got a working copy underway at the moment for the Lust Buttress area courtesy of Jon the Pom who developed the hillside. Better rock and some very nice problems.
See some of his photos.

Without seeing the pic the rocks on KI are probably the Remarkable Rocks on the south coast. They are very speccy. There is a picture I saw somewhere recently with Sonny Trotter(?) bouldering on them. Also nice cliffs on east and SE coasts.

I also assume the pic would be Remarkable Rocks. Any Chockstoners on family holidays who happen to be there would probably be tempted to do a few moves if there's no-one else around. Fair enough, as long as you DON'T USE CHALK.
There's also 15m of squeeze caving at ground level between the two biggest Rocks which would have moments of excitement for larger Chockstoners.
