Will be going for a couple-few days. We'll be going during Christmas so where is the best spot away from the tourists and holiday crowds but still accessible to good views, hikes and climbs. only thing is, We've never climbed outdoors before so would there be groups we could join? If not, is this community still able to provide input as where is good to camp that is near sights and hikes? Ive just heard on the grapevine about hollowountain but not much about it. Any input would be great, thanks!

If you haven't climbed outside, then you might want to hook up with Grampians Mountain Adventure Company, who do lead / top-roping guiding in the Northern Gramps, and I'm sure could get you on the best rock with minimal fuss.

Did you want a proper campground with (at least) toilets, or are you equipped to bush-camp (including supplying your own water)?
Are you there on the 25th (when it's likely to be quiet) or between Xmas and NYE (when it'll be busy)?

i've generally found even at xmas/ny it's only madness in Halls Gap and the main NP campgrounds. Stony creek road was dead quiet then last year whilst halls gap was unbearable and the big campgrounds chockers.
If you have never climbed outdoors, book a guide for a day or 2. Then maybe try the easy sport crags on your own next if you have been comfy leading 18-20 in the gym - tribute, ravine sort of thing or put your guide's instruction to use setting up top ropes at Summerday. To start on trad, go to araps and get another guide.

Preferably proper campground but are able to bush camp too. We will have a car (not 4wd) though.
Not the 25th. Anytime between 26th to the 30th.

Perhaps try Plantation campground. 10 min out of Halls Gap in the direction of Mt Zero.
