Thanks seems like I've packed well 3 rods and reels 6, 8 and 10 lb. I've only fished there once using borrowed gear and with 3 year old kiddies. Only got one tiny pinkie snapper but saw a lot of larger stuff moving about in the open water. Definitely not bream you reckon it could have been tailor? Where I used to come from there were only salmon so never really got to know whit tailor looked like.

Bream feed on structure, so if land based bases of bots, wharfs, pylons is what to hit. When i said surface dawn and dusk i meant largely tailor, light trace can be good and hard body surface lures will work. Sydney also surface wise has kings but you want a boat. If you have the kids renting a tinnie at Rose Bay could be a good fun option. Pretty cheap

I know the deal with bream - I fish the Yarra and docklands for em most weekends. In Melbs they like darkish plastics but the water was a lot clearer in rushcutters so I might change colours. In any case I'm sick of bream and wanna catch something else. I've packed the hard body surface and shallow diving lures so hopefully will get something else.
I'll be fishing there most mornings from 7am for the next 10 days. Lemme know if ya want a partner in crime for a different expedition.
