There is now path marked with tape up to the crag. It's the old short cut to Prof Wiggins Chunder Bucket. This track was chosen because it wasn't burnt during the fires and so is stable and well worn in. To get to the other bits of the crag just sidle along the base of the cliff.
The plan is eventually for a second path running up to the west end of the crag from the fisherperson's track.
Basically the rangers have two requests. Please stay off the slope beneath the crag as it is loose, vulnerable to erosion, and needs time to regenerate. And try to keep your group size small, as large groups tend to have more impact as people spread out looking for places to sit, dump packs, etc.
The fires have also revealed the extent of the midden beneath Cosmic Ecology. It runs quite a way down the slope. There is a few thousand years of shellfish feasts piled up there! Please tread carefully.
