I'm pretty stoked (okay, I know it's not the Pretty Stoked Thread) but for the first time in months, I've got a proper climbing timetable for the weekend. Crack fest at the Cloisters with Bec on Saturday, multipitch fun with a guy from work on Sunday. I've got a feeling he's pretty good too, so will be good to get out of my depth.

I'm unbelievably stoked that my beloved Kawasaki ZX9R is finally fixed - exactly five weeks since we got clobbered by a silly motor(car)ist who thought that spontaneous lane changes do not require use of mirrors (or it wouldn't be spontaneous... or something).

Stoked I tried some trad work on the weekend - I had rigged up a top rope as a safety but it was still my first time placing gear on the rock and it felt pretty good - it was a grade 16 paced a copuple of nuts a hex and 2 cams and was pretty confident on every placement. STOKED

Stoked for MonkeyBoy, trad climbing is really rewarding. Im sure its been said before but it really really really reallllllly helps if you aid up a climb on top rope while learning to trad climb. It really teaches you a lot about what placements hold and what wont-plus does wonders for your confidence if you get it right!

Meh, a couple showers to make the grass pretty. Lots of climbing, good company and
new friends. Including that gloomy bastard, Simey.

Nice Phil. The guy I did my L's with got side-swiped the other day. He's walking, but his bike was written off. Turns out the 40+ year old woman had never had a license.

I wouldn't have a clue what that really means, but it sounds like you did well! Congratulations!
Me, well I'm stoked to have had an enjoyable rogaine on the weekend, despite not being able to complete our loop back quite the way we had intended... Vic champs in one and a half months.

Thanks guys. Basically you ride your bicycle as fast as you can in this case over a 20km out and back stretch of country road at Wangaratta...

Sharing the good news ... Airasia have ridiculously cheap flights on sale til sept 13. I just got return tickets to Krabi next year for $285. They also fly to Guilin at outrageously good prices and umpteen other places in Asia.

** Disclaimer: I am a travel agent ** Give you the heads up on AA - These guys are no-frills. When I say no frills, I don't mean Jetstar or Virgin Blue low frills... I mean NO frills. For example, you ask the stewardess how to recline your seat - They will tell you to slouch becuase their seat doesnt recline. Add on the fact that you have no movies or anything, the staff don't give a shit becuase "you only paid $200, so you dont get a say if we cancel this flight"...
My advice: Best smart about WHEN you book - keep an eye out for special and travel on the fringe seasons.

** edit: disclaimer: I am an IT professional ** Damned if I can work out the web site. It says Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur from AUD $119 on the homepage but no-where can I find how to actually book at that fare. If I book for the date range they suggest I get $341.

I haven't noticed anyone giving a shit if they cancel a flight on me - I had Jetstar cancel a flight on me last month and Qantas running over 5 hours late on me last year - they all just tell you to deal with it. I never watch the movies anyway. I did have a look for their safety record before booking - seems good.
On finding the flights, try Mondays and Thursdays, they seem to have the cheap flights. And booking KL-Mel as a one way is cheaper than if you book the same flight as part of a Mel KL rtn. And Feb flights were a little thin on the ground.
