this was my pathetic warmup attempt a few weeks ago, currently working on something a little more 'complete'

the last couple days have taught me a thing or two...
-Monique wants me dead (and has been training ziggy to kill)
-Neil is a poofy mexican who wears socks in his climbing shoes
-Simon takes pretty good photos!
-It is unlikely that a route Fantini graded 15 in 1972 will be a nice afternoon stroll. 20m of absolute brilliance, amongst 4 pitches of runouts, choss, shrubbery.... should have taken the crampons
-One cannot expect to climb well after being awake for roughly 60 hours and being very hungover. but it is still pretty fun to try!
-issue #5 of CRUX, the first photo annual, is getting me very excited... it is shaping up verrrrry sweet.

...and mousey is good at choosing the shitest routes at a crag. I sat their wondering why we were cllmbing vertical dirt when there was perfectly good 5 star routes just around the corner. At least we got benighted which is always a highlight.

Absolutely zip climbing done today. It poured all day. 4 stars my ass! At least I have the guidebook author next to me to lodge my official compliant.

Anyone available for a climb for a few hours around 1pm tomorrow (in the Bluies)?

unfortunately my NZ has to be cut short.... just doing the TMC & hopefully 1 route on mt cook or somthing nearby. this is because i am being forced to go snowboarding in japan for 10 days with 2 of my best mates in the world. shit ay

Here is some old news (myth?), I came across, to cheer you up.

~ Two British traffic patrol officers from North Berwick were involved in an unusual incident while checking for speeding motorists on the A1 Great North Road. One of the officers used a hand-held radar device to check the speed of a vehicle approaching over the crest of a hill, and was surprised when the speed was recorded at over 300 mph. Their radar suddenly stopped working and the officers were not able to reset it.

Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact latched on to a NATO Tornado fighter jet which was engaged in a low-flying exercise over the Border district, approaching from the North Sea.

Back at police headquarters the chief constable fired off a stiff complaint to the RAF Liaison office.

Back came the reply in true laconic RAF style:

"Thank you for your message, which allows us to complete the file on this incident. You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Tornado had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked onto, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it. Furthermore, an air-to-ground missile aboard the fully-armed aircraft had also automatically locked onto your equipment. Fortunately the pilot flying the Tornado recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile systems alert status, and was able to override the automated defence system before the missile was launched and your hostile radar installation was destroyed.
