How about the cheesy 90's extreme sports version of the name 'Xposure' - good mag for the cragx
website i guess.

Or a porno site!

How 'bout something truly Australian like:
'Sandbag' or 'Manky Carrot' (hehe)

Anyone that wants to help with editing/design/proof reading each issue (ie the glory jobs) email me so we can get a working group together to give this thing direction. Email:admin@cragx.org

Carrot - i like it! Very quirky and very Australian. Its just the sort of name we need to stand out from the
crowd. Generic names like rock, climb, climbing etc just blur into one indentitiy. Carrot however is unique
and original!

What do others think?

I did rather like your suggestion of 'BoulderCragMountain' as it sums up the arenas, but could be a bit long I guess. There is always the possibility of having a subtitle like "CARROT (or whatever it will be) Australia's boulder, crag, and mountain e-zine".

he he, I have such a naive mind ;-) ...glad you lot brought my feet firmly on earth again.

Yep, sounds like the guys at CragX also like the "carrot" idea - I like it too.

Errr, Whats up doc? comes to mind.
Interesting that the word 'carrot' evokes nostalgia even amongst the younger 'rings' (possibly) brigade?

carrot .... yep, very nice. Let's not be like a commitee, and continually revisit / remake the same decision.

Now we have a name, what's next??

Yep, the "Carrot & Stick" approach. The incentive of your choice!

Sadly though, the domain name 'www.carrot.com.au' appears to be not available.

'www.climber.com.au' IS available but perhaps confusingly similar to the domain name for Mark Baker's site 'www.climbing.com.au' ?

Strange that 'www.carrot.com.au' doesn't seem to be active though. But there's always alternatives like 'www.carrotmag.com.au', 'www.carrotstick.com.au', 'www.carrotclimb.com.au' or 'www.rustycarrot.com.au'...

I think it's more likely a decision by the Australian Domain Registrar(s) to make "bread" and "butter" words unavailable for registration.

If the e-Zine is conceived as remaining a purely not-for-profit Climbing Community project and not at some time in the future becoming a commercial enterprise, then perhaps "www.carrot.org.au" might be suitable. The URL is available for registration, and at $13.75 for two years, is a cheaper option

"Carrot" eh? Let's not get ahead of ourselves too much! Seems a bit political to me... What about "Mank"? Prefer "Sandbag" myself, sums up Oz climbing nicely. Lets canvas a wide range of options and put it to the vote, there is no rush on this.

Either way I don't think a domain and/or Zine name should be too generic and obvious. Things like Climb and Australian Climber are probably best avoided, Carrot would get my vote over those...

"Gripped off me Scone", now there was a classic rag...
