I feel sure that this new blog, http://rockofageskb.blogspot.com put together by Keith Bell about his life in climbing will be of great interest. It covers his climbing adventures on Balls Pyramid, The Blue Mts, Frog Buttress, The Warrumbungles, South Africa, North America, The Alps, The Dolomites and more. If you want to know what can be accomplished if you are motivated, skilled and have vision beyond your local crag/gym then this may open your eyes.

..Humzoo 1974 reminds me of Doug Scott on Everest 1975............and both wearing a Whillans sit-harness by the look of it...

Haha. Well we both had beards. A big difference was that his hippie headband was paisly whilst mine was orange and oh yes, he could ‘really’ climb! I met him a couple of times in 1979, nice bloke.

I suspect many younger climbers won't be familiar with a lot of these climbs and thus won't appreciate the unbelievable wealth of experiences contained in this blog.

I found all of it absolutely fascinating and it really makes me appreciate how fcuking good Keith and his contemporaries were in the early 70s and 80s. Given the equipment of the day and size and seriousness of many of these routes, it is a very impressive list of ascents, often done in remarkably fast times.

Well said Simon. Keith was and still is a force of nature. His resumé is not to be underestimated.
