The Australian Adventure Activity Standards (Australian AAS) Steering Committee is now seeking to form a Technical Working Group (TWG) to draft the activity specific AAS for Climbing & Abseiling.
The activity AAS will hold all the provisions that are applicable to Climbing & Abseiling and will utilise the ‘core standard’ as its base. The ‘core standard’ covers topics such as risk management frameworks, emergency management plans, child safety and sun safety.
The activity AAS will cover any specific ‘Climbing & Abseiling’ planning, participant, environment, leadership and equipment provisions.

AAS are great for industry standards relating to comercial activities. Im sure there are plenty of people here that have some commercial guiding or 'club' experience and will take an interest.

Yes, before anyone panics about over regulation and encroachment on our sport, be aware this is for improving safety of commercial climbing or abseiling groups where people depend on a leader / guide for their safety, and has nothing to do with recreational climbing.
"The Australian Adventure Activity Standards will provide the best practice framework for safe and responsible planning and delivery of outdoor adventure activities with dependent participants. This TWG will be working on the standards for led Climbing & Abseiling activities."
