"Knowing people are social and like to connect and interact with real people"

1) I'm not, but climbing forces me to do it. Sometimes I even end up enjoying the 'social interaction' part.
BUT
2) That's not what Facebook is about, it's about a providing a superficial facade of that and another mirror for narcissists.

Just like climbers should lift their game to the climb they would like to do. But in reality, some people don't show their face and use their real name like some people lower the climb to their level.

Andrew, now whilst i don't want you the throw away your i 'heart' facebook t-shirt or burn down your shrine to Mark Zuckerburg, using facebook as an example of how internet forums should be conducted is ill-advised. I have only been a member of Chockstone for a couple of years, but i don't know of anybody that has been physically harmed due to inconsiderate posts, like what can and does happen in the cult of facebook.

Whitetrash and shortman, when i started writing this thread i thought i would get some quick negative and smart arse answers, you didn't disappoint, or maybe i should say you are so predictable. i enjoyed reading the other remarks, some informative some just fun, thanks. When i got into climbing in 2000- 2001 i spent quite some time scrolling through this blog on a number of occasions, but it wasn't a welcoming place and i decided its not worth sticking around. Im encouraged to hear one new climber has found value being here. Im now a member of 2 facebook groups dedicated to climbing, and i agree you still want some of your privacy but just a real face and a name people know you by reduces the aggression, arguments, misunderstanding, assumptions and judgments. And the rude angry ananymous people dont find it so easy to vent on others

You say your name is Miguel75, but how do I know that you're not really Miguel69!! Clearly only boring twats with no sense of humour should be allowed to post. That way Kieren and Neil can talk amongst them selves letting each other know how good they are without being pestered by anyone

your lack of engagement and flippancy in your posts, dispite your claims of engagement and cohesion , are becoming annoying andrew. almost as annoying as if you retrod the bufalo routes and broke off the flake on pintle.
there was nothing negative in others and my legitimate questions an they still stand .
you sound almost as fragile as the flake was on pintle!

if you dont refute the allegations then we can only assume that you are the culprit responsible and if that is the case , then my blessings go to any who would chop your retroroutes.

No white trash its nothing personal about you in particular, it more professional and the nature of this public forum. Sorry that i dont feel i have to explain myself to you but i have identified myself and what i know of the situation to the VCC, So dont take offense and you might just want to talk to a few others before you start snapping out bolts.

Andrew - it's the internet, get over it.

Hey Andrew Davis, I totally agree (by the way, my real name is Ben Mace), because I'm sick and tired of the outright rude, gutless f#%$ers that hide behind the security of false identities, who openly admit they wouldn't be so damn rude in a face to face situation. If everyone was much more respectful face to face, then I say lets get on that level right here, right now.
