We had about 15 climbers come out (and quite a few non-climbing ring-ins!) to tackle bitou bush and other invasive weeds on the backside of Barrenjoey last Saturday.
Some photos from the big day out...
Folks gather for a briefing from Northern Beaches NPWS rangers Judy and Natasha... and get kitted out with roundup bottles and toolbelts packed with sharp dangerous things.
Duw! High tide at Barrenjoey...
A happy bitou basher...

Albert relishing the job of killing a prickly pear.
Grose Valley Chossmaster and SRC Access Officer Andrew Jones lugs out a bag of asparagus fern.

Enmoore showing how to lead Crack of Doom gracefully ...
Thanks everyone who came along! From the feedback I got everyone had a great time and there was plenty of interest for another day out soon.
Thanks NPWS rangers Judy and Natasha for coming out and organising all the equipment and morning tea and teaching us all how to spot bitou and remove asparagus fern, thanks to Sydney Rockies for a great BBQ, thanks to Vertical Life and other kind folk for helping with the promo, and climbinganchors.com for donating some climber toys for spot prizes to lure people along!

Just a heads up, the next Barrenjoey bushcare day is on the 11th May. Come along and get your feet wet exploring the beautiful rocky Barrenjoey headland and help us contain the bitou.
8.30 start at the carpark as usual. We are hoping to get further around the headland this time to tackle bitou and asparagus. We might be in for a chance to see whales, although it will be early in the season, and a tour of the lighthouse in the afternoon is on the cards!
See you all there!
